‘I need more comments’ wishes every bloggers. When asked why, they reply that more comments are tantamount and symbolize engagement. That is completely fine.
A final question, though. Why do you need more engagement?
Most bloggers out there have no idea about engagement. They are either misinformed or ignorant about the power of reader’s engagement with their blog.
Of course, a post with hundreds of comments does look nice but this isn’t a fashion show.
Unless you are blogging for charity, the idea is to make money. Therefore, you should be selling either a product or service.
Unfortunately, most bloggers don’t sell.
My Goal is to Educate Readers not to Sell
I do not care in what philosophy you believe in. Time is money. If you are investing hours into blogging then you deserve some return.
No, matter what you do there is always some way of making money.
I do monetize my blog through ads
CPM and CPC ads should be your least preferred monetization technique. Over here, we are talking about blog, which engages highly.
To make the most, try affiliate sales and CPA ads. I bet that you will be making more with these ads.
I Gain Enough through AdSense
Earnings through AdSense are like trickles. It keeps you satisfied in the hope that you will keep earning more.
In fact, your earnings through AdSense depicts only one fourth of your blogs potential. Moreover, AdSense work poorly in well-engaged blogs.
How do I make the Most out of Engagement?
While writing a post there should be two goals; educate and sell. Education of your readers undoubtedly should be preceded by sales or lead generation.
When I first entered into this virtual world, people were suggesting providing half cooked information and sell the rest.
Such tactics must have worked in the past decade. Increase of competition has forced people to reveal further information.
Thereby, if your readers cannot find information on your blog they will gain it somewhere else. Interestingly you can still sell by educating readers.
There are always people who are new to the niche. More and more people prefer to use the online world. Therefore, if you are educating readers on ‘how to blog’ then there are hundreds of people every day trying to learn blogging.
Such people will always require tools and various themes, which are beneficial in blogging. Though you are selling, what you are doing is helping them. It is a sort of win-win situation.
Have you ever been to affilorama.com? If not then I suggest you to visit and browse through the videos. Every video educates affiliate marketers in depth.
The catch is that at the end of every video there is sales pitch for one or the other.
Pushing Engagement too hard
Engagement is not the only factor that triggers sales. Much more depends on your content too. Engagement is just an element or one among many factors to increase conversion.
Focusing your entire energy and ignoring other vital factors is not advisable.
Few months before, I received a mail from one of my blogger friend. He had some 50 posts but there were more than thousand comments. He boasted his achievement.
I noticed that he had not made the slightest attempt to sell anything. I congratulated him and asked what he had achieved through those engagements.
His reply was “My blog has the highest comment to post ratio”. Right, but that does not make money. Hope you got the real picture.
The real moneymakers are those who educate and help people by selling tools and exclusive information. When you are blogging next time, attempt to sell.
If you are indifferent to this suggestion then you are leaving the treasure behind while running behind few pennies.
