Awesome Tips to Write Content for Your Blog (Free eBook Inside!)

With all the recent changes in Google’s algorithm, which decides how web is ranked, one of the most important factors to consider is the quality of your blog.

You need to differentiate yourself from the millions of other blogs around the net, in order to build a good online reputation and a circle of loyal readers.

So any good advice on how to write awesome content for your blog is always welcome.

My friend and blogger Chris Madej of NoPassiveIncome, wrote an eBook (“15 Fast Tips About Creating Great Content for Your Blog“), which illustrates how to create high quality articles for your site.

Here you can read some suggestions on how to produce excellent content, inspired from Chris eBook.

1. Take Some Time Without Distractions

There are people who can write a lot in less time and in the middle of confusion and people who needs a quite place, without distractions and few hours to write a good article.

Whatever is the level of your ability, consider that your writing skill will improve with time!

Find your compromise : check in which condition you are more productive. This is the most important thing, your productivity!

A little advice?

Get a pc without an internet connection when you have to write and produce new content (or switch off momentarily the internet connection of your main pc).

2. Write a Catchy Headline

The headline is the most important part of your article, because it is the first thing the user sees before deciding whether to read your content, or discard it.

For this reason, you need to find a headline that attracts the attention of visitors. An example:

But be careful! Do not promise things that do not respect the content of your article, otherwise you will lose credibility.

And you know how important is online reputation for bloggers and writers.

3. Write for YOUR Readers, Not for Google

Yes, of course. Your keywords are important. But your readers are even more important!

So write proper English (or whatever your language is), checks for mistakes, proofread before publishing.

Use a simple style, possibly short sentences and easy words to understand. No errors in spelling, grammar and syntax.

Do not forget to link back to your old articles, which match the content of the new post.

Be creative, try to write articles that meet the needs of your readers. Or, that solve problems.

Write guidebooks or about new trends.

It is important that you consider that the content will be read by Real people, not robots!

4 . Be Original

Remember to not copy!

This is one of the basic rule to follow when you want to create fresh content. Of course you can take inspiration from other bloggers, but  do not just copy.

Be aware that duplicate content is strongly penalized by search engines.

These are just some tips that you should consider when writing new content for your blog.

If you want a comprehensive guide on how to produce new quality posts in your site, or write content of the highest caliber, download and read the eBook that Chris offers you. You will not regret!

  2. Hi Erik,
first of all – many thanks for mentioning me and my ebook. I really appreciate it!
As you wrote – Google is changing algorithm all the time and great content is really one of the most important things to be on the 1st page of SERPs.
But we must remember that we should write for our readers – and if we don’t know, what they want, we should ask them about it!
Once more thanks for these great tips!

  5. Hi Erik,

Great tips here and I have to get that eBook from Chris!

The biggest mistake most of the bloggers make (including me) is to write for Google. We don’t realize Google is not our audience but the readers are. I have been doing this for couple of years and found that most of the things I was doing was a mistake. When I changed my approach, I see a lot of improvement and as a result, Google is giving me some free bonus too.

With that in mind, I am going to invest some money into getting grammarly.com and be on top. I want to make my content more presentable and with this tool, I can get all the help I need from an editor.

  8. Well yes, first thing the visitors sees usually upon visiting are the headlines and having catchy headlines draws the attention of visitors and thereby encouraging them to read further. Agreed! readers are even more important than keywords and yes, proof-reading the article/post before publishing is really important, so as to avoid mistakes/errors. Thanks Erik for sharing this wonderful post :)

    • If you write for readers, and not for search engines, you do not have to worry anymore for the next Google updates.
I think the aim of all these changes is to keep high the quality of the content of the web.
      Thanks for the comment, Ashwani!

  11. Some nice tips here Erik. One I’ve found useful is to make constant use of a notepad, be it a physical one or the memo function on my phone.

Then I can jot down ideas when I get them, and even flesh out a skeleton of an article so that I know roughly what can go in each paragraph.

This makes it very simple to then write the article once I’m back at a computer.

      great suggestions, thanks! :-)
Sometimes during the day a post idea or subject comes into my mind, then I write few words into my iPhone.
Now with my new iPad things are easier… :-D
      Thanks for your comment!

  12. Some good advice here, Erik. I agree that headlines are the most important way to attract readers. Being original is also important especially these days when Google is rewarding high quality, original content.
I would also add that the first 50 words of your copy are most important in getting your audience to engage with your copy and writing while keeping WIIFM (What’s in it for me) in mind.

  14. Hi Erik,
You are right about catchy headlines because a good one will certainly attract the attention of readers. However, there are some sites who write catchy headlines, in fact so catchy, that the content of their post is not even related with their headlines. MGID anyone?

  15. Lots of brilliant tips in here alot of which I already do, but I love the idea of working on a computer with no internet connection. That has got to be my number ONE distraction.

    Thanks for this !!
