Lots of people around the world have recognized how Internet Marketing makes a promising business.
You are probably one of those that are new to this and are willing to invest.
Well, if you’re already aware of it and started to do so, this guide will still be able to help you remember these components on how an ideal Internet Marketing strategy works.
1. Social Media Marketing (SMM)
Social Media Marketing is by far the trending tactic of Internet Marketers nowadays. All you have to do is register, create a page, and drive people to tune into your pages.
Trending social media platforms include: Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, LinkedIn, and Google+.
2. Email Marketing
Email Marketing can be the most challenging and difficult medium among the seven components. You have to make sure that your emails are read by your targeted individuals and are very appealing.
With that said, it depends on how you create or choose a unique template, and how you compose your words to make it very appealing.
People nowadays prefer the design and how nicely written messages are for them to be convinced.
3. Lead Generation
Of course, how can you do email marketing if you don’t know “who” to email? That’s where Lead Generation comes in.
The most common way on how to determine which individuals are interested in such information is by tracking RSS readers.
Also, answering questions in LinkedIn and Qoura platforms, and giving something away in exchange for customer data, are effective strategies on Lead Generation.
Two good tactics I have been using are hosting giveaways and providing free e-books. Providing free stuffs encourages people to subscribe and give the information you need. Your visitors will also gain an idea of the value of your services and products.
4. Organic Search Marketing
Organic Search Marketing is also a simple strategy in Internet Marketing.
This includes : setting up Google Webmaster tools, defining core organic search keywords, link building, and building your targeted categories.
5. Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
This component can be very crucial to learn. CRO is all about making sure that your inbound traffic is directly converted to your targeted destination (blog/landing page).
The ideal way is to make a single purpose and CTA for every page, and by rating/testing your pages with a conversion scoreboard.
6. Analytics
Analytics is the most common application internet marketers use to determine the flow of their sites.
These will help you discover what area of your site is underperforming, establish conversion goals and funnels, adding custom reports on your analytic’s dashboard, and keeping updated into important events around the internet.
7. Content Marketing
The content of your site resembles your whole internet marketing strategy. Be sure to accommodate readers and get them to fully understand what your contents are all about.
You need to be original and write as if you’re talking to your readers directly. Write something interesting and worth sharing for.
Before the update, most websites provide consistent content in effort impress search engines so their rankings would soar.
Now, search engines such as Google made alterations so webmasters would focus on impressing the readers instead.
Have you been hearing a lot about “Content is King”?
If yes, you should believe it and implement it in your website. This may take a lot of your energy but it will definitely increase your traffic and authority.
These components are the very basic and “noobish” ways to start your internet marketing business. Many sites provide long-term courses to learn online marketing, but few cater to the detailed and most effective ways.
Try to learn as much as you about each of these seven core components of internet marketing so in time you’ll develop a strategy that can produce positive results.

Nice list – if you could add another I think it would have to be affiliate marketing. Whether you are an affiliate or the person offering the affiliate program, you’re most likely going to be involved with affiliate marketing as an IMer.

Hi Thomas,
I agree, doing affiliate marketing won’t only help promote a product or a service but also you as a publisher.
We just have to take in mind that for Affiliate marketing to be successful our aim should be in developing trust and relationship with clients or readers.
I highly appreciate the contribution Thomas.

What about mobile marketing? I know it encompasses sections listed above but I do think mobile marketing needs to be handled differently.
Hi Ian,
I agree, while mobile marketing proves to provide satisfying results, marketers need to learn the right strategies in order to effectively engage mobile users.
I can definitely recommend that marketers need to start including mobile marketing in their list of tactics.
Thank you,

Having an online business myself, I can totally relate to that! Especially about Social Media — it’s widely effective and it gets to be one of the best deals regarding promotion and marketing stuff!
Hi Gary,
You are definitely right Gary. As long as we remember to provide or create value or exceptional content for social media, we will surely recieve value and acknowledgement from our audience.
Remember, relationships require give and take so when doing social media don’t always focus on yourself. Take time in commenting to other people’s posts, share other people’s posts, etc.
Thank you,
Jun

I don’t like email marketing that much. Once my emails get marked as spam, my newsletter campaigns might become useless. I have a piece of advice for those who use emails as marketing instruments: don’t buy email databases!
Hi Alex,
Like I said, email marketing is challenging. We have to find ways to set our letters apart from the usual mails sent by thousands of companies. The “Subject” in the letter is highly important. With the many mails people are sorting, they don’t usually have time to open each one. Make your subject interesting or catchy enough and then make your content sound more human made than automated.
Thank you,
Jun

Hi Jun,
Great ideas. I could not help but agree with you on having a sing CTA per page. I can see how that can optimize conversions.
A good way of achieving that would be by taking out your sidebar and header on landing pages. That way your readers are funneled towards the very action you desire.
