SEO is important for businesses and many companies are realising that they need to continuously invest in SEO for their website.
SEO stands for search engine optimisation and it is concerning exactly that, how your website appears in search engine results.
The percentage of the global population that are “connected” is ever increasing with growing mobile and tablet use meaning people have access to the internet wherever they are and whenever they desire.
These days, if your business is not online then you might as well not exist it is that simple.
If you look at all the leading brands you will see that they usually have a well designed and easy to navigate website, social media presence on sites like Facebook and Twitter and often an app for smart phones and tablets or at the very least a mobile optimised website.
This may sound a little daunting but it actually means that building a brand and interacting with your target audience is easier than ever. You first have to get people to your website though and this is where SEO comes in.
Ideally, when somebody puts a search term into their search engine such as Google, if your company is related to this search then your website will come up.
This means that the Internet user can click on your website page on the first page of Google and find out more about your company.
This is more likely to lead to a sale and spread the word about your brand and your company name. However, you do really want to get on that first page – otherwise your hits dwindle.
When you get a website, you cannot simply let it stand still. A stagnant website is perhaps the worst kind of website that exists. This kind of website will get lost in the marketplace, where there are thousands and thousands of other websites that can shield it.
A search engine will act like a massive robot, in a split second analysing all of the different websites that relate to the key terms that the Internet user has typed into their browser. They will look at how many links the site has, how many people go on this website, the quality of the pages on the website, how large the website is and so on. This means that you need to maximise your ability to stand out to search engines.
Maximising your ability to stand out is not something that you can do overnight.
SEO is a long-term activity which many businesses will outsource. Some companies will use the services of professional search engine optimisation experts, who are highly familiar with the industry and the website as well as the skills required to maximise search engine visibility.
Using the professionals is perhaps one of the best ways that you can ensure your website gets the best chance of success and visibility, whereas doing this yourself could prove difficult if you do not have the technical knowledge and continual time required to maintain your website’s position on Google.
Search engine optimisation is just one aspect of the website. For successful websites to work, you also need to have a professional and fully functional website to show off.
The website needs to have the right balance of information between products, services and good quality information.
You might also want to link pages such as your social networking Facebook and Twitter accounts, so the fans of your website can also become fans on your Facebook page. Connecting these sites is also ideal for search engine optimisation success.
Sometimes it can be difficult in business to stand out from the crowd.
There are many businesses that will claim to do a similar service or product as you do, so making yourself heard can feel like standing in the middle of a crowded room and shouting at the top of your lungs.
Getting the right tools on your side and thinking in a business savvy way can ensure that you make your company stand out.

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing.
I agree with you that SEO is only one part of Internet marketing strategy and benefits from SEO are “long term benefits”. But we can’t forget about SEO – it has the highest ROI (IMHO)

Definitely agree – SEO is very important however a website shouldn’t RELY on SEO. As long as there is a good balance between organic search traffic and referral and direct traffic you should be good!

Great post. SEO is a long term investment and is just one (key) aspect in the sea of marketing strategies. Patience, like in most business is definitely needed if you are to reek the rewards that a balanced marketing strategy can produce.

Businesses that remain stagnant will most likely be shut down in the long run. If you really want to get on the fast track and stay in it, you have to go with the flow. Promote your own business by any means possible. That is what SEO is for. It is not easy but there are plenty of means to do it if you are willing enough.
Your right SEO is so important for your website to grow. If you have good SEO and are getting a lot of visitors from search engines it is easier to grow your email list and social followers. But with the latest Google updates it makes it harder and harder to work out what you need to do to grow your SEO.

The search engine traffic is the least random and purpose driven traffic and getting yourself in the search results ensures a success for your online business.

SEO is a vital marketing tool for your website, and should never be overlooked. It can build brand awareness and place your website above those of your competitors. It can generate traffic from targeted audiences in a cost-effective way, which in-turn helps optimize the website further in the eyes of the search engines – giving you a great return on your investment.
In my experience, a great-looking and user friendly website is nothing if nobody can find it. So if want that users find your website and came to you through the online way then you need to do SEO for your website.

Invest in SEO is a wise decision.SEO helps to bring huge traffic to a site.Website can earn or promote by this huge traffic.
Neat article. I certainly agree about SEO being a “long term” strategy. A lot of my clients (I work at an SEO agency) complain about not seeing results in a few weeks. Unfortunately, SEO is not a sprint, its a marathon. Like almost all types of marketing strategies/efforts, the ROI is achieved after at least 6 months. Some competitive keywords could take even longer. Its essentially a game of patience and consistency above all else.
