Dmoz is PageRank 8 and as you know, it is really hard to get approved to its directoy.
DMOZ (also known as the Open Directory) is the largest human-edited directory of the Web.
It is maintained by a huge community of volunteer editors who are responsible for one or more categories.
Every website and page that is added to the directory has to be manually reviewed before it is included.
Dmoz is free, and there is not option to pay to be listed faster.
Getting a website included in DMOZ can take very long time (more than 6 months?).
Try to choose the best category for your site and complete the submission form, in order to get listed.
You can try also article marketing, to get links from high PageRanks.

I´m not sure whether it is worth to include your web page at DMOZ, it may last a long time and I even know a bunch of people that didn´t get the backlink at all.
Regarding DMOZ as a ranking factor, it has lost its importance. As regarding rankings, I would focus on high quality links from websites with good ranking visibilities.
Some of my web pages don´t have high PR, but the demand of backlink buyers at teliad is high just because of the fact that the RankingScore is >400.

There are two major opinions that DMOZ is not very important or it is vital to a website SEO.
The fact that it has always been supported by Google and mentioned by many webmasters, it makes it very attractive to those who want to try to insert their links in this directory.
It is also true, as you known, that advertisers consider this, among many other things, in order to calculate the importance and “value” of your site.
I do not think that once you manage to get a link from this directory (if it is really possible), your PageRank goes up by 3 points at once, but I still believe that, every 6-8 weeks, it is worth investing 15 minutes of your time, trying to compile the form, if you still can not find your site listed within DMOZ.

Nevertheless, you, as a experienced webmaster and seo, certainly know that time is money and there are so many things to consider in online-marketing and especially seo right now, that we should focus on the most essential things.
