A great way to drive quality traffic to your website is with Forum Marketing.
Forums are places where you can share some of your knowledge and in the same time learn from other people, and the discussion is always about a particular topic or niche.
How it Works
The basic concept should be that you look for forums related to your niche and then join one or more of these forums.
Start to build a strong reputation, providing useful information about the topic you are expert about.
Never link to your blog within the post, just place your URL within your signature.
Of course be sure to read rules and regulations, before joining any forum.
Do not SPAM ! Or you will be banned.
Another big advantage of forum marketing, is when you talk in forums with other people related to your niche, you may learn from them a lot.
How to Master the Forum Marketing
Let’s say that one thing is subscribe to a forum, write a couple of interesting posts, put the link in your signature and then nothing else.
Another thing is build a strong relation in the long term with the forum users and focus then on a much profound and befencial way to generate traffic.
First of all you should choose one or two forum to join, because more I think it will be hard to follow.
May be, as beginning, you should start with small forums of your niche.
Once you have choosen, you may participate to discussion everyday, creating new threads and answer to what you are expert about.
Try to be consistent.
Day by day you will see that other forum users will trust you, if your participation is active and fruitful, and they will start consider you as an expert in that topic.
Of course if you have a lot of interventions, the people is more likely to know more about you, visiting the link that you have in your signature, as a resource of interesting articles of your niche.
And Forum Marketing is useful during time, as if you decide to change your website or just modify the URL that you want to promote, all you have to do if change it in your signature and all your work in that forum will redirect to that new URL.

I really appreciate this strategy you have shared Erik, I have tried using two sites here, the warrior forum and wicked fire, but the problem I have encountered here it is so much difficult to gain reputation here , because almost all the members of this forum site are very professional they avoid spam comments, and they don’t allowed links in your profile unless you are certified. am I right?

Kate,
I think you should be really expert in a niche, to gain the trust of the forum users and then be able to gain traffic from forum marketing.

I couldn’t agree more. What I usually do when doing forum marketing is that I chose forums which is related to my niche site. After that, optimize my profile, read the rules and head over to the introduction section to make an opening. After few days of having posts at least 10, I then put my links on the signature and start building my reputation. Forum marketing is great. However, as what I have read from an SEO blog, forum links are no longer valuable in SEO.

Hi Edward,
you do have a point, thanks for sharing.
I think that, a part of the link that may be is no longer DoFollow in the forum signature, the benefits should be that users should associate the knowledge you may share in the forum, to a visit in your website in order to learn more.

Yes Erik. I get traffic that way. I usually reply with a teaser. Enough for people to get curious and have the signature links as call to action.

I’ve seen lots of people who do forum marketing. Yet not all of them really find this technique very successful compared to others.
