Everyday a blogger looks for new ways to increase traffic to his blog.
As you know, there are a lot of ways : article marketing, guest post, SEO, internet and social media marketing, just to mention some.
But an expert blogger know for sure a lot of tips and tricks that most of the time he keeps secret.
I have found time ago a nice tip, that will give you extra traffic with a work of just 2 minutes.
I guess that you know about “Pinging” : it is a notification to some sites/services for each time your blog is updated.
By default every installation of WordPress has at least one entry, which is:
http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
With this suggestion, you will be able to “ping” 170 sites, sending notifications automatically that your blog has been updated, every time you add content, without doing anything else.
With this tip, your blog will get indexed faster by the search engines and you will have better and quicker rankings too.

All you have to do is select the entire above list, then copy and paste into
your WP-Admin page : “Settings->Writing->Update Services“.

I also like to manually use some external pinging services. this is typically used for every new post or update I make. I also like to ping and bookmark others sites whenever I leave a comment and interact with other bloggers. This builds them some links and I have my Commentluv
Services I typically use are pingfarm and pingdevice

Pinging is indeed a great way to get more traffic. I didn’t know that there’s wordpress plugin for this. Thanks for sharing. I will install this since i’ve been doing it the traditional way. Pinging through Pingomatic.

This is a very nice tip. Sometimes search engines takes a long time to index new posts of a blog. In this way, new posts are likely to get indexed very quickly and it will definitely increase traffic into the blog.

I couldn’t agree more. Automatic pinging will do the job. I always do it manually by going to their website. Pingomatic is just one of the few pinging websites that worked.

Awesoome ping list. This is really good advice as far as updating the default ping list. It really helps in getting traffic and getting indexed a little faster.

I’ve used pinging as a method to increase traffic in my site before. And I can say that it’s effective. People from different parts of the world visit my blog through different websites and through the different widgets that I use.

Pingbacks look like a great way to get noticed, but do other webmasters choose to be pinged to get your updates, or do you hand pick sites and add all of them yourself?
